Mangochi Civic Hub Launched to Support Malawi 2063 Participation Goals
The Department of Civic Education (Doce) has set up the Mangochi District Civic Education Hub, also known as the Pabwalo forums.
Briefing the District Executive Committee (DEC) members today, Doce deputy director Lawrence Useni said the hubs provide spaces where communities discuss rights, responsibilities, democracy, governance, gender and other development issues.

He said the district hub will soon help establish the first Area Civic Education Hub in Traditional Authority Jalasi. The two structures will work together to support mindset change under the Malawi 2063 First 10-Year Implementation Plan (MIP-1).
Useni said partner organisations are helping to strengthen financial literacy and build understanding of democratic processes in communities.
Mangochi principal community development officer Dalitso Mndinda, speaking on behalf of the director of planning and development, welcomed the initiative, saying it will promote civic awareness, participation and good governance.
Doce is working with UNDP, NRB, MEC, Nice Trust and Oxfam in Malawi on the programme.
